North Carolina Farrier Jay Lankford Passes Away

Jay Lankford passed away on December 23, 2024. He was 82.

Lankford was born in Rockingham County, South Carolina, in 1942. He was a blacksmith, leathersmith, cowboy and muleman who shod horses until he was 80. He is remembered for his knowledge, grace and humble generosity. 

He is survived by his wife, son, grandson and numerous family and friends.

Memorial contributions can be made to Ancora Compassionate Care, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, N.C. 27375. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
