Professional Farriers Announce Formation Of Program To Assist Injured Or Ill Farriers

The American Association of Professional Farriers (AAPF) and Canadian Association of Professional Farriers (CAPF) Farriers Assistance Program is a grass roots program that allows our membership the ability to help take care of our own. This is a short-term program to assist members through tough times that may occur. There are three main functions of this program: networking, helping with work load while down and donations/fundraising. I have been shoeing horses more than 28 years and had the pleasure to help many with lameness issues improve quality of life and, in many cases, return to work and win championships. Many times, I hear people use the terms of the industry in context that are inconsistent with their needs. I am setting out to help clear up what we mean when we use the terms appropriately. The terms most confused are "Therapeutic Shoeing" and "Corrective Shoeing."
