An Easy Way To Keep Your Tool Cart Secure

June 4, 2015

Does your wheeled tool cart roll around in your trailer or rig?

Oceanside, Calif., farrier Jack Mclallen shared a quick and cost-effective solution on Facebook after his cart wouldn’t stay in place.

Mclallen bought a pair of flanged fittings for about $7 a piece from the plumbing department at Lowe’s and screwed them to the wooden floor of his trailer (Figure 1).

“The fittings are short enough to clear the underside of my work bench,” he says, “and tall enough that the wheels shouldn’t jump out.” (Figure 2)

If your cart is anything like Mclallen’s, it could be a bit top heavy, but a simple latch (Figure 3) is enough to keep it from tipping over.
