Markle, Ind., farrier Merrill "Lynn" Dafforn passed away Friday, March 16, 2018. He was 79.

Dafforn worked at International Harvester in Fort Wayne for 22 years, and became a farrier after his retirement in 1984. He worked as a farrier for 30 years and retired again in 2015. Besides his lifelong love of horses, Dafforn was also known for his artistic talent and interest in helping others. He completed over 100 barn quilt paintings and donated more than 32 gallons of blood throughout his life.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 21 at the Zanesville United Brethren In Christ Church, 3092 W. Broadway, Zanesville, Ind. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Those who wish to do so may make a memorial donation to the Zanesville United Brethren In Christ Church or the American Heart Association.
