American Farriers Journal
American Farriers Journal is the “hands-on” magazine for professional farriers, equine veterinarians and horse care product and service buyers.
The horses move to and fro
Taking their legs away,
The farrier gets frustrated and wants to go,
Nary coming back another day …
The owners chirp, “He’s fine for me,”
As they clean the foot with a pick.
In a few short seconds the foot’s on the ground,
And the owners are proud as a whip …
The farrier explains, “It’s not the same,
What you do compared to me.”
But upon deaf ears his words do fall,
As the owner walks away you see …
So with grit and determination he tackles it again,
Hoping to finish all four.
With a swish of the tail and a strong pushing shove,
He found himself once again on the floor.
Grumbling and swearing a few choice words,
Directed at the owner I’m sure.
He loads up his tools and his butt is what she sees,
As he heads on out the door …
Now Monday is past and Wednesday has come,
A new farrier walks into the barn,
“He doesn’t look so bad,” the farrier states,
As he uses his skill and charm.
With a cock of the head, the horse smiles for sure,
Knowing he’ll get this person to leave.
A jerk of the leg and a mighty shove, that the horse gives,
And the farrier begins to weave …
“Sure I’ve got him,” the horse begins to think.
“I’ll put his butt into the air.”
He measures once and fires off…
