The Northeast Association of Equine Practitioners (NEAEP) announced Tuesday that Remco van der Linden of Mustad Hoofcare S.A. has joined its board of directors as its farrier industry representative.
The position previously existed in the organization’s structure but was not part of the board of directors. The addition of this position to the board was made to ensure that the farrier industry is included in the conversation about equine health.
“This non-voting position was created to help solidify the importance of the farrier role in the quest for excellent health,” according to Dave Dawson, NEAEP executive director and CEO, in a letter to American Farriers Journal and others. “The NEAEP has had an industry representative position for the last several years and felt the need to ensure that the farrier industry stakeholders have equal representation at the board level.”
It is the second industry representative role that’s offered at the board level. The veterinary industry representative position has been occupied by Carli Progin of Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health.
