A new exhibit dedicated to one of the greatest horses in Thoroughbred racing history is opening before the start of Saturday’s Kentucky Derby.
Main Street Station in downtown Richmond, Va., is celebrating the 45th anniversary of Secretariat winning the Triple Crown with a display that’s free to the public, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
The exhibit features photos of moments throughout Secretariat’s life, his owner Penny Chenery and jockey Ron Turcotte. A 7-foot-tall, 600-pound reproduction of Secretariat’s Thoro’Bred racing plate also will be on display.
The exhibit is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays, and from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
