Orland Park, Ill. equine veterinarian Dr. Raymond Morandi passed away on May 19, 2018. He was 86.
Dr. Morandi founded the Orland Park Equine Hospital in 1966. He pioneered treatments in leg and hock injuries for Standardbred race horses and privately owned farm and riding horses. Dr. Morandi loved what he did and would often go to the race tracks to treat Standardbred racers during the day and then perform surgeries at the hospital during the night.
Some of Dr. Morandi's better known clients include Rambling Willie, a champion harness Standardbred racer with 128 victories over his career, and the Budweiser Clydesdales.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 3-9 p.m. at Colonial Chapel located at 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem), Orland Park, Ill.
A service will be held at Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Chicago First Church of the Nazarene located at 12725 Bell Rd, Lemont, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Chicago First Church of the Nazarene.
