BioZyme announced recently that it has acquired Cogent Solutions Group (CSG).

The acquisition further extends the reach of St. Joseph, Mo.-based BioZyme into animal health and welfare while laying the foundation to expand its product offerings to consumers. Lexington, Ky.-based CSG researches, develops and produces bioactive polysaccharides.

“This acquisition makes perfect sense for two thought-leaders like these two companies to come together,” according to Bob Norton, chief executive officer (CEO) of BioZyme.

CSG’s MHB3 Hyaluronan just received its seventh U.S. patent for supporting joint health in mammals. Hyaluronex, Baxyl, Runovia and Trixsyn are joint support category leaders for their respective species. Similarly, CSG’s Phygest, Alimend and Alicaid use proprietary polysaccharides to provide stomach comfort for people, horses and companion animals, respectively.

“We look forward to working with BioZyme’s team on the common goal of improving the health and comfort of people and animals using unique compounds from nature,” according to Jim Smith, CEO of CSG.
