In any physically demanding field, taking care of your body is essential to a long career, something that long time farrier Dick Fanguy knows all too well. Following in his family's legacy of farriery and self employment, he's seen the many pitfalls that can befall any farrier who neglect their health.
However, by learning from these past mistakes and taking to heart the advice from farriers such as Bruce Daniels and Myron McLane, he has managed to make a name for himself in the farriery industry and become a spokesman for the rig producer Stonewall Bodies, and even the American Farrier's Association president.
These days Dick is often found around the country at an assortment of farrier clinics, sharing the excess of knowledge he has accumulated through his years of shoeing horses donated to Louisiana University and rubbing shoulders with some of greats in the farriery industry.
In this episode of the American Farriers Journal podcast, brought to you by American Equus, Editor Jeremy McGovern spoke with Dick Fanguy, CJF, past American Farrier’s Association president. He tells how he got into farriery and how his unquenchable curiosity helped him become the farrier he is today. He remains involved with the industry by consulting with farrier cases and representing Stonewell Bodies.
