Neptune City, N.J., farrier John Francis “Skeet” Abel III passed away Sept. 24, 2018. He was 73. 

Born in Long Branch, Abel was the son of John F. Abel II and Grace Geschke Abel. His father ran the family business Abel’s Tree Experts where he worked until becoming a skilled blacksmith and farrier. In addition, Abel was a home renovator and landlord. He loved adventure, travel and motorcycling through Europe, once completing a trip that was 18,000 miles. 

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Sunday September 30 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove, N.J.
