Knoxville, Ill., farrier Don McCoy passed away on Oct. 16, 2018. He was 81.

A Knoxville native, McCoy was licensed as a farrier in Illinois for 35 years. He enjoyed many things, including raising and racing standard breed race horses. At the Chicago Fair and in Iowa, McCoy held a track record. He was also a member of the United States Trotting Association. 

The graveside memorial service will be Friday, Oct. 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Haynes Cemetery. At the Hurd-Henricks Fellowship Center in Knoxville, a fellowship gathering will follow the service. Contributions in memory of McCoy may be made to the Hospice Compassus of the Galesburg Rescue Mission. Online condolences may be made here.
