Elkin, N.C., farrier Thomas Snow James passed away at his home Oct. 24, 2018. He was 85.

James had a love for horses, and he used his skills to give horseback riding lessons. In working with horses, he became a qualified farrier, so he could shoe the horses himself. 

The services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Ste. 200, Mount Airy, N.C. 27030; or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 4600 Park Road, Ste. 250, Charlotte, N.C. 28209.
