Millville, N.J., farrier Edward R. Loper passed away Nov. 17, 2018 from pancreatic cancer. He was 74.
While Loper was born in N.J., he had been raised in Utah, where he was introduced to his passion for horses and horseback riding. He became a professional bull rider in his young adult years. Later in life, he raised, rode and trained horses back in N.J. Being a longtime farrier and blacksmith, Loper helped out his many friends and neighbors in times of need. He could be counted on to help fix tractors, vehicles and horse trailers.
Loper encouraged his love of horsemanship in his children by being active in the Cumberland County 4-H Club Program, to which donations can be made in lieu of flowers. Donations can also be sent to the local chapter of the SPCA.
Visitation will be Nov. 26, 2018 at 5pm with a memorial service to follow at the Barr Funeral Home.
