Oxford, Pa., farrier Christopher Michael "Mike" Bailey passed away on Nov. 24, 2018. He was 43.

As a member of the Pennsylvania Professional Farriers Association (PPFA), Bailey was an active farrier and generous blade smith. Each year, he donated a custom knife as a prize in the PPFA spring contest, which will now be known as the “Mike Bailey Best Shod Foot Award.” 

Bailey was a certified journeyman farrier, as well as the owner and operator of Chesapeake Forge. He serviced the Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania areas. He also volunteered his time as an American Farrier’s Association (AFA) tester and helped out at local farrier events. 

The memorial mass will be held on Nov. 28, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford, Pa. A light lunch will follow. Interment will be private.
