Tucson, Ariz., horseman Fred Frye passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2018. He was 84.

As a trainer, breeder, farrier, instructor and equine dentist, Frye cared for 50 to 70 horses every at his stables on East River Road for 50 years. Frye also helped found the Southern Arizona Cutting Horse Association (SACHA), for which he was president of at least four times. He was also recognized for being the longest continuing member of SACHA.
