SmartPak welcomes its new ownership by Covetrus, a standalone public company that was the product of the spin-off of the Henry Schein Animal Health business and its merger with Vets First Choice, according to the recent press release.
Since May 2014, majority ownership has been held by Henry Schein Animal Health. SmartPak also recently gained a new chief executive officer, Fraser Cameron, formerly the president and CEO of Velcro Companies.
Cameron recently joined SmartPak's team as CEO. He speaks highly of his fellow employees.
“Since joining SmartPak, I’m amazed at the passion of our people, most of whom are riders themselves,” he says. “I’ve joined this great team to make sure that we are deserving of our customers’ trust and that our commitment to our mission of Health Horses and Happy Riders is our number one priority.”
SmartPak began in 1999 with the introduction of the patented SmartPak supplement feeding system and has grown into the largest retailer of equestrian in the U.S. SmartPak retains its mission to be “Healthy Horses and Happy Riders.” In being part of Covetrus, a global leader in animal health, SmartPak will continue to innovate, educate and serve its customers’ changing needs.
Covetrus is a company in the global animal-health technology and service field, with goals to advance the world of veterinary medicine. They are headquartered in Portland, Maine.
“More than ever, we want to provide our customers with the best possible products and service,” says Cameron. “Being part of Covetrus enables us to stay true to our values and invest in our business.”
Cameron adds that he looks forward to “using his expertise to build upon SmartPak’s strong foundation to enhance many features already well-loved by its customers, including fast, reliable shipping and excellent customer service.”
