American Farriers Journal
American Farriers Journal is the “hands-on” magazine for professional farriers, equine veterinarians and horse care product and service buyers.
For the 16th year, the International Hoof-Care Summit brought farriers and equine veterinarians to Cincinnati for 4 days of footcare education. With a theme of “Where Footcare Comes First,” the Summit lived up to its name, with attendees and exhibitors representing 25 countries from Jan 22 to 25, 2019.
Attendees were treated to intense footcare education consisting of 18 General Session presentations, 15 Hoof-Care Classrooms, 25 Hoof-Care Roundtables and 18 How-To Clinics. In addition, attendees had 10 uninterrupted hours at the Trade Show, featuring 133 exhibitors. Steve Foxworth, who delivered the closing notes for the 2019 IHCS, summarized the event as inspiring.
“I am more encouraged than I have ever been with this industry. The amount of individuals that are at this event, that are continuing their education, that are challenging what they know, that are asking questions is incredible,” says Foxworth. “I’m not talking about someone who builds shoes or someone who buys them. I’m not talking about someone who does mapping or who sets shoes back. From one end to the other, individuals are becoming educated — and that is phenomenal.
“Our profession is riddled with people who want to be on the top. When we come together and find the value in each other’s experiences, all of us will be on the top, no matter how different we are.”
