BioZyme Inc., a company that provides a complete line of feed additives and high density, highly available vitamin, mineral, trace mineral and protein supplements for animals, is seeking a research and development (R&D) laboratory manager.
The position is based in St. Joseph, Mo.; however, the company reaches a global market of customers throughout the U.S., Canada, South America, Europe and the Middle East.
Contributing to an R&D program that focuses on the development of products such as prebiotics and plant bioactives, this program’s goal is to reach new improved properties, such as better formulation, bioactivity and uses. The qualified candidate will devote about 60% of his or her time to conducting analytical research using various lab equipment, including LC-MS, troubleshooting or developing analytical methods and leading their implementation. Strong computer skills are required, as well as the ability to work independently, to be self-motivated and to have above-average attention to detail.
A qualified candidate must possess a master’s degree or PhD in analytical chemistry, microbiology, biotechnology or closely related fields, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in direct research. This includes chromatographic science and mass spectrometry, preferably in the field of pharmacology, physiology, biotechnology or nutrition.
Collaboration in conducting statistical analysis, interpretation of research outcomes and preparation of reports. Of the reports, this includes both internal avenues of communication as well as scientific publications. Communication with staff members, research partners and collaborators, management, commercial team members and customers is a crucial part of the role. The ability to interact with persons of various cultures is also required.
