• Mia Durham and Elizabeth Sidebottom are the recipients of the American Farrier’s Association Bruce Daniels Scholarships.
• The Northeast Association of Equine Practitioners (NEAEP) is offering two full scholarships to attend its 11th annual symposium, Sept. 25-28 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The scholarships are in the name of former NEAEP Executive Director Rhicco Rhentas.
• Kwantlen Polytechnic University has decided not to cut its farrier-training program. The program was slated to be cut for budgetary reasons 3 months ago.

Mission Farrier School to Open an Oklahoma Branch

After educating farriers for nearly a quarter of a century in the Pacific Northwest, Mission Farrier School (MFS) is expanding to Oklahoma.

MFS Oklahoma will begin class Sept. 16, 2019, at its new facilities in Duncan. The class will be limited to eight students and offer both a basic farrier and an advanced practicing farrier class. MFS Oklahoma and MFS Washington will alternate class start dates, according to a press release, and there will likely be one to two classes per year at each school.

Mark Plumlee, CJF, RJF, CFP, CLS, will share teaching duties with Shasta Budvarson, CF, CFP, CLS, but Budvarson will take on a bigger role as time progresses.
