With Safety Concerns, Medical Insurance is Critical

All but 5% of full-time farriers carry some form of medical insurance. However, only 83% of part-time farriers are covered for medical expenses, which can be a serious mistake with all the potential injuries that can occur when working with horses.

When it comes to dental insurance, 40% of full-time farriers have coverage, while 47% of part-time farriers have invested in this coverage.

How Farriers Deal with Poorly Behaved Horses

When it comes to dealing with unruly horses in the short term, 18% of farriers simply refuse to work on these animals.

Another 43% of farriers will trim and shoe these horses the best that they can, while 39% of farriers demand that unruly horses be sedated before working with them.
