Three farriers are honored at the International Hoof-Care Summit for outstanding career progress in their first 3 years after shoeing school

Three up-and-coming farriers were honored for early career success at the 2020 International Hoof-Care Summit in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Ben Barhorst of Lexington, Ky.; Audrey Williams of Edmonton, Alberta; and Gary Gullo Jr. of Old Brooksville, N.Y., were named 2019 Rising Shoeing Stars.

Do You Know a Rising Shoeing Star? Nominate Them for This Award.

It’s not too early to begin thinking about nominees for next year’s Rising Shoeing Star. The process is simple:

  1. Make sure this candidate graduated from a shoeing school in 2017.
  2. Write a 2- to 3-page summary explaining why your candidate should be named a Rising Shoeing Star.
  3. Email your entry to Kristen Kubisiak, at kkubisiak@lessitermedia.com, with “Rising Shoeing Star” in the subject line or mail your entry to American Farriers Journal, Attn.: Rising Shoeing Star, 16655 W. Wisconsin Ave., Brookfield, WI 53008-0624.

The deadline for submitting nominations is July 31, 2020.

American Farriers Journal introduced the Rising Shoeing Star Award 11 years ago. Along with five leading farrier industry suppliers, this recognition program promotes the importance of further footcare education, while encouraging young shoers to success in their careers. Co-sponsors include Adeptus Nutrition Inc., American Farriers Journal, Dechra Veterinary Products, G.E. Forge & Tool, Pyranha and Texas Farrier Supply.
