The Nevada Professional Farrier Association is accepting entries for the Edward Martin Perpetual Draft Shoemaking Mail-in Competition.
Competitors can enter the Open or General Divisions. All shoes, entry and fees must be postmarked by Sept. 8, 2020, to qualify. The entry fee is $50 for any association member and $100 for non-association members. Striker/fireman are allowed, but shoes and all finish work must be made by the competitor.
All entrants receive a commemorative T-shirt and incentive prizes from FPD, Thoro’Bred, Kahn Forge, Edward Martin Original Hoof Coatin, Paula Knickerbocker Foundation, Durasole, Mustad, Farrierbox and Auntie Em’s Horse Spray. Division winners receive an Austin Edens hammer and a Farrierbox. Class prizes include Jim Quick tongs, Chris Madrid draft fullers and Todd Walker pritchels. The overall high-point winner will receive a Matt Marti striking hammer. Winners will be announced live Sept. 26 on Facebook. Proceeds fund the Edward Martin Scholarship.

Open Division
Class 1: A right front agricultural draft shoe from 1/2" x 1 1/4", toe clip, fullered eight nails, agriculture heels, 8 1/4" wide x 8 3/4" long – toe to outside corner of lateral heel.
Class 2: A left hind agricultural draft shoe from 1/2" x 1 1/4", toe clip, with welded toe bar (5/8" square), fullered, eight nails, agriculture heels, 7 3/4" wide x 8 3/4" long – toe to outside corner of lateral heel calk.
General Division
Class 1: A left front draft shoe from 1/2" x 1 1/4", toe clip, plain punched, seven nails, 8" wide x 8 1/2" long – toe to lateral heel.
Class 2: A right hind agricultural draft shoe from 1/2" x 1 1/4", toe clip, plain punched eight nails, agricultural heels 7 3/4" wide x 8 3/4" long – toe to outside corner of lateral heel calk.
