The 2017 Ford F-150 is one of two vehicles MVP’s uses for business. Set up by Bay Horse Innovations, the goal of the rig design is function and efficiency. The grinder (A), as well as the forge (B) and anvil (C) swing out, leaving about 4 ½ feet between them. That’s enough room for both of us to be able to work at either the grinder or the forge at the same time. We suggested the dry erase board (D) because that is how we like to keep track of shoes that need to be made. For other features of the rig, we took inspiration from fellow farriers. When visiting Cave Creek, Ariz., farrier Jeremiah Harris, CJF (TE), AWCF, we saw how he was able to carry different lengths of bar stock on his rig. We requested the addition of special compartments on our own rig (E) that hold bar stock lengths of 2, 3, 4, and 5 feet. Harris also had a fan in his rig. We knew we wanted one of those for air circulation, so we added that (F), too. 

Like you’ll find in many rigs, our foot pad inventory (G) is located near the slide out bandsaw and two-drill press (H) for easy access and convenience. Vern also requested a tool caddy (I).

Other features that are special to MVP’s rig are the modified accommodation for multiple hoof stands (J), room for two shoeing boxes (K), and space for two propane tanks (L). We didn’t want…
