How Many Times per Year Does a Farrier Work on the Typical Horse?
Full-time farriers see the typical horses in their practice an average of nine times per year. This drops to seven times per year among horses worked on by part-time farriers.
The typical horses that farriers work with are 12 years old. Only 1% are under 2 years of age while 28% are 3-10 years old. In the older horse category, 68% are between 11 and 17 years of age while 3% are more than 17 years old.
