Individually-protruding lens assemblies optimize light transmission past the patient’s hair to the skin without shaving, and convex glass lenses manipulate tissue optics to affect deeper-penetration when needed. Divergent beams allow lower intensity light to be applied to wounds and sensitive tissues when using a non-contact technique, and they become eye-safe at relatively short distances.
