Colfax, Wis., farrier Samuel Owen passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021. He was 85.

He was born July 25, 1935, in Wheeler, Wis., to Lavern and Maye (Murralt) Owen Sr. He grew up in Wisconsin and attended high school in Lemmon, S.D.

Owen married Mary Olsen on Oct. 3, 1959, at Maplewood Alliance Church in St. Paul, Minn. The couple had three sons. Owen worked as a farrier for many years in the local area.

A memorial celebration took place July 23 in Menomonie, Wis. Burial was in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Hay River, Wis.
