Are you a farrier student in need of help paying for your shoeing school education? You might qualify for the Mike Rowe Works Foundation scholarship.
The foundation is providing a total of $1 million for the 2022 Worth Ethic Scholarship Program. The deadline is at 11: 59 p.m. PT on April 14, 2022.
“Through this program, we recognize people who understand the importance of work ethic, personal responsibility, delayed gratification and a positive attitude,” according to the foundation. “These are hardworking men and women who will keep the lights on, water running and air flowing. These are people who show up early, stay late and bust their asses day in and out. It’s not for everyone. Hard workers are hard to find, but we know you’re out there.”
Heartland Horseshoeing School graduate Bryanna Solmonson of Lexington, Mo., was a recipient of a 2021 scholarship.
To qualify for a scholarship a candidate must:
- Enrolled in an approved program (farriery is approved under farming and agriculture).
- Sign the S.W.E.A.T. Pledge.
- Answer four questions about the S.W.E.A.T. Pledge.
- Make a video.
- Provide two references from a teacher or boss.
