When American Farriers Journal first recognized Farriers Week 24 years ago, the goal was to celebrate farriers during a busy time of year. Today, when aren’t you busy? Some days are busier than others, but it seems most farriers remain busier than ever, in part thanks to a surge of interest in horses over the last 2 years
As we celebrate Farriers Week during July 10-16, take time to thank a mentor or fellow farrier for the positive impactsthey’ve had on your career. We’ve shared alerts about Farriers Week with the horse industry, so hopefully your clients take the time to appreciate your dedication to their horses. But inflation has come in this time of high demand. It remains to be seen how negatively this will affect the horse world long-term. So as much as Farriers Week was created for others to recognize the dedication of farriers, I think this year’s conditions serve as a reminder to appreciate your own commitment — and ensure you are adequately compensated for it as your expenses grow.
