The induction ceremony will be at 3 p.m. ET on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, at the Duke Energy Center, 525 Elm St., Cincinnati, OH, 45202.
The International Horseshoeing Hall of Fame was established in 1992 to honor farriers around the world who have made significant contributions to the profession and who have left a permanent, positive impression on their peers and clients.
Established in 1997, the International Equine Veterinarian Hall of Fame honors veterinarians who have contributed to the knowledge and recognition of proper hoof care for horses. Veterinarians are nominated in two classes: practicing equine vets who work closely with farriers in the field; and college and industry vets involved in teaching, research or other important aspects of hoof-care education.
Members are nominated to the hall by their peers, trainers, veterinarians, horse owners, friends and family members. The names of nominees are submitted to current hall members, who serve as the board of electors.
The Halls have a permanent home at the Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville, Ky. Located on the second floor — above the museum hall that features the 360-degree Kentucky Derby Video Experience — the horseshoeing exhibit includes a display of farrier tools and shoes, photos and graphics depicting the history of the farrier profession.
The exhibit also includes the history behind the Hall and a video of a farrier shoeing a horse. In addition, many Hall of Fame members have donated shoes that hang in the exhibit.
Nominations for the 2024 classes will be accepted from the public until July 31, 2023.
