BROOKFIELD, Wis. — February 20, 2024
The 21st Annual International Hoof-Care Summit, held at the Duke Energy Center and Hyatt Regency in Cincinnati, Ohio, on January 23-26, 2024, drew more than 1,000 attendees from 23 countries.
Centered on the theme “Refining Your Skills and Building Your Business,” the program featured 4 days of hoof-care roundtable discussions, panel presentations, general sessions, classrooms, trade show sessions and, newly added this year, two 2-hour long wet labs.
Among the highlights of the 2024 International Hoof-Care Summit was the announcement that the 22nd Annual International Hoof-Care Summit will be held in Kansas City, Mo, January 21-24, 2025.
American Farriers Journal editor Jeff Cota addressed the new location during the opening session.
“The Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati will be undergoing a 2-year renovation project beginning next year, which forced a site change," shares Cota. "However, the new Kansas City site provides us with a lot of advantages, one of which is that the host Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center allows all attendees to remain under one roof. Every general session, classroom, roundtable and trade show will be at one location.”
Given the forced change in location, excitement is buzzing among the industry as Kansas City has so much to offer. Attendees have the opportunity to explore the city's classic Kansas City smoky barbecue, local distilleries and unrivaled craft beer breweries. Unique attractions throughout KC also beckon locals and visitors alike housing the National WWI Museum and Memorial, Union Station, and the American Jazz Musuem just to name a few.
For those traveling by plane, KC boasts a brand-new single terminal airport. Travelers arriving to and departing from the Heart of America will be met with upgraded technology, a long list of locally-inspired amenities and convenient gate access.
The International Hoof-Care Summit continues its goal of helping expand hoof-care education through a focused educational program covering the most important topics to today’s equine footcare professionals as they announce the return of Dr. Jenny Hagen, a veterinarian, farrier and hoof-care research at the University of Leipzig; Dr. Kirsty Lesniak, a senior lecturer and program manager in the Hartpury University equine department; and University of California, Davis, farrier Shane Westman to Kansas City.
The 2024 International Hoof-Care Summit was made possible with the support of these Educational Partners: Gold Level: Glue-U Adhesives, Kawell USA, International Association of Professional Farriers (IAPF), Zoetis and American Farriers Journal. Bronze Level: Hoof MD and Purcell Farrier Supply.
