Canadian farrier Pierre "Beets" Joseph Arsene Brassard passed away in Wasaga Beach, Ontario, on July 25, 2023. He was 78.

Brassard attended the Farrier Science Program at the British Columbia Vocational School in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, after which he worked as a farrier in Cookstown, Ontario, until a back injury ended his shoeing career. Afterward, Brassard operated a trucking business. Retirement allowed him to explore his love of water and passion for sailing.

He is survived by his wife, three children and seven grandchildren.
