Wisconsin farrier Lyle K. Kirby passed away on May 14, 2024. He was 79.

A graduate of Golden Leaf Farrier College in Sturgis, S.D., Kirby was first a dump truck driver then a commercial fisherman before becoming a full-time farrier. He was an avid boater, water skier, hockey player, fisherman, cowboy, mechanic, farrier, farmer and father.

He is survived by his wife, son, two daughters, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
