Ohio farrier Donald “Donnie” Payne passed away June 3, 2024 after a brief battle with cancer. He was 74.

Though Payne spent most of his career working for Ross (Abbott) Laboratories in Ohio, he graduated from Penn State with a degree in blacksmithing and worked as a farrier for over 40 years in and around central Ohio. He was also a member of the United States Trotters Association.

Payne is survived by two children, four grandchildren and numerous friends and family.
