The 22nd annual International Hoof-Care Summit drew familiar faces and new friends to Kansas City, Mo., this January.
One new attendee this year was provisional board member for the Tennessee Screenwriters Association (TSA) Paula Phelps-Weaver, who is developing a screenplay that features a fictional farrier as the main character.
Phelps-Weaver is a lifelong horse owner whose father trained racehorses for a living. Though, one facet of the equine world she’s less familiar with is hoof care. She spent the Summit attending lectures and talking to farriers between sessions to absorb knowledge and get to know the industry.
As part of her hands-on research, Phelps-Weaver is asking farriers to discuss their careers and hoof-care practices in brief interviews.
