Shoeing The Sports Horse For Competition
Steve Teichman, Chester County Farrier Associates, Unionville, Pa.
Keeping clients on a regular footcare schedule typically is the foundation for maintaining soundness. But sometimes your clients will need you to respond to an issue found in competition or training. Steve Teichman will examine the cases in which you may need to provide on-the-spot hoof-care insight. Teichman will use his experience in 25 years of working with hunters/jumpers, dressage competitors and eventers and his role as the farrier for the U.S. Olympic team to deliver practical solutions for helping equine athletes at all levels.
Improving Your Hoof Care Through The WIDTH Protocol
Steve Kraus, Head Farrier, Cornell University College Of Veterinary Medicine, Ithaca, N.Y.
Barefoot. Shod. There is no one way to deal with equine hoof care. Cornell University’s Steve Kraus will introduce attendees to his WIDTH protocol in this presentation. He will deliver specific examples of practical application of WIDTH at work. Kraus will also share appropriate and inappropriate cases of shod horses and how the WIDTH protocol influenced or could have influenced these cases.
To help IHCS attendees save money, we’re repeating several highly successful dollar-savers from last winter’s event.
