Does your apron fit? Or is it just “off the rack” and made for a shoer twice your size, not coming around your legs in the proper places? How about those knife pockets? Are they handy? Too high? Too low? In the wrong place? Your apron should be quick, easy, efficient and protective.
When the patches become worn with holes, have them fixed as soon as possible so you don’t wear holes into the mother apron. Holes are dangerous. If you’ve ever had a colt’s foot stuck through a hole in your apron, you understand this point.
There are several expert leather men in our industry that can make a shoeing apron that fits you perfectly. It will cost you a bit more, but it will last and save you time on the job.
