need some good advice on how to treat -- club foot-- trimming--shoeing

This video is mostly wrong on the origin and management of the club foot. The steel shoe is responsible for the difficulty in reversing the club foot due to the hardness of the material and the trim applied before the shoeing. The tendon muscle unit is reacting to the pain being caused by the shoe. The deep flexor muscle is actively controlled by the horse at each stride, if the stride is not comfortable the tendon group will tighten. The trim method to reverse the club foot is very simple but it will look ugly for a while until the foot is fixed. Do Not trim the heels and Do not trim the toe up to grade 2-3 club feet, and never dress the dorsal wall. The trim to apply is across the palmar wings of the pedal bone. This means trimming the frog aggressively, trim the bars and scoop the quarters off the ground. The horse will immediately relax the tendon muscle group. Always remember that the tendon is controlled by a muscle. Very rarely you will come across a check ligament loaded horse, you just need to be able to slide some paper under their heels until the check ligament gives a bit. This is best done barefoot as it is self healing with no shoe on. Though one of my clients was pushing their luck a bit by running the horse in an 80km endurance ride 3 days after the trim. They completed no problems. If you need to shoe a club foot it is best to use a synthetic shoe like the TerraFlex as it will bend to follow the current trim but not force the foot into a bad shape. I have done it with high carbon steel shoes but if the horse is doing endurance work the shoe will bend up into space you have created for the foot to return to normal. Using the correct method to reverse the club foot you will not need wedges, toe extensions or any surgery to get the foot back to a normal foot. The acquired club foot is usually due to a neck injury, that may require a body worker to release any nerve entanglements. Basically the trim is a 3 point trim like the loading diagrams from Brian Hampsons brumby studies. One horse I did had his pedal bone broken by his mum standing on it a 2 months of age, she then did the same to the other foot at 4 months of age, this stopped the Vets from doing surgery.
