"While Pat McLane's health has not been good for the last few years, her passing is definitely a big loss to her family, friends and the entire equine hoof-care world," says Frank Lessiter, Editor/Publisher of American Farriers Journal.
Frank fondly recalls the first time that he and his wife, Pam, met Pat McLane.
"It was in February of 1992 and we had just purchased the American Farriers Journal about a month earlier," he recalls. "When Pam and I walked into the Holiday Inn at the American Farriers Association annual convention that year in Daytona Beach, Florida, Pat was the very first person we met. She was very friendly, welcomed us to the equine footcare industry and made us feel like we were an important part of the farrier world.
"These were traits of friendliness that I'm sure she shared during her lifetime with many other people. But I still remember more than 20 years later how she went out of her way to welcome us to the industry."
