American Farriers Journal is the “hands-on” magazine for professional farriers, equine veterinarians and horse care product and service buyers.
Veteran farrier Robert “Red” Renchin, was recently named an honorary member of the American Association of Professional Farriers (AAPF). The farrier from Mequon, Wis., is known throughout the North American equine industry for his extensive work with hunters and jumpers at all levels of competition.
The recently retired horseshoer operated a multi-farrier business that served horse owners in southeast Wisconsin and northeast Illinois. He was inducted into the International Horseshoeing Hall Of Fame in 1995.
Renchin serves as the technical editor for American Farriers Journal, is a frequent speaker at the International Hoof-Care Summit, has served as an outstanding clinician at various hoof-care events around the country and is a long-time member of the American Farrier’s Association and the Upper Midwest Horseshoer’s Association.
Over the years, Renchin trained a number of farriers who have gone on to successful footcare careers of their own. He is well respected by and has worked hand-in-hand with area veterinarians and other farriers on critical footcare cases.
In addition, Renchin is always willing to share his knowledge, has always had a continuing desire to learn more about all aspects of hoof care, evaluate new techniques in the farrier field, help out fellow farriers and is a huge believer in the need for highly effective customer service.
Horses shod by Renchin include the winners of numerous major competitions along with jumpers that have represented the United States in the Olympics.
