What questions do you ask prospective clients before you take them on as customers?
Mostly I just want to know what kind of riding the owner intends to do, and what special needs the horse has. I may ask who their last shoer was.

I always ask, "What happened to your last farrier?" Sometimes it's a legitimate answer/reason. Sometimes you get a string of "well, I used to have so-and-so, then I had this guy, then that guy, then..." Sometimes a long string of former farriers is a red flag.
