\The mounted horse unit of four horses in Staten Island, N.Y., is in need of a farrier for a 4 to 5 year government contract. The current contract is expected to terminate November 30. The administrative officer says interested farriers should be amply experienced and need to be able to outfit horses with barium shoes and occasionally pads and snow pads. The horses will require attention from the farrier every 6 to 8 weeks. Farriers are requested to base their bids for the position based on a 6 to 8 week shoeing period time frame.
