A number of International Hoof-Care Summit attendees took home a number of awards and special prizes from the early February event.

• Five outstanding individuals were inducted into the two Halls Of Fame that are sponsored by the Kentucky Derby Museum and American Farriers Journal. (See here for details.)

New inductees into the International Horseshoeing Hall Of Fame include Allie Hayes of West Boxford, Mass., and Ray Legel of Waverly, Iowa.

New inductees into the International Equine Veterinarians Hall Of Fame are Dr. Donald Walsh, Pacific, Mo., Dr. Phil Edler, Hudson, Iowa, and Dr. Michael Steward of Shawnee, Okla.

• Bob Smith was named as the “Summit Achievement Award” winner in a new program sponsored by the Delta Mustad Hoofcare Center and American Farriers Journal. The operator of the Pacific Coast Horseshoeing School at Plymouth, Calif., was honored for volunteering footcare services to equine organizations during the past 35 years. (See here for details.)
• Three young farriers won “Rising Shoeing Star” awards. They are Mike Caldwell of Paso Robles, Calif., Keith Green of Wakeman, Ohio, and Robert Whitt of Phelan, Calif. This new program that salutes farriers who graduated 3 years ago from shoeing school is sponsored by Victory Racing Plate Co., Vettec, Delta Mustad Hoofcare Center, Life Data Labs, G.E. Forge & Tool, Anvil Brand Shoe Co. and American Farriers Journal.
