American Farriers Journal
American Farriers Journal is the “hands-on” magazine for professional farriers, equine veterinarians and horse care product and service buyers.
The farrier science program at Mesalands Community College has been selected to receive an integrated basic education skills training grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant will help adult education students succeed in college-level technical programs and complete post-secondary credentials in fields offering good wages and career development.
Amber McClure, director of the center, says students pursuing a farrier science certificate will benefit from the support services and extra instruction offered by instructors. Students pursuing a farrier science certificate may also qualify for financial aid. Farrier instructor Eddy Mardis says the school’s program is designed to give students hands-on experience in horseshoeing and blacksmithing.
More than two dozen attendees at the International Hoof-Care Summit were honored with valuable prizes and awards during the ninth annual event that was held earlier this winter in Cincinnati, Ohio.
