Eddie Watson, the Keswick, Va., farrier, has had a hand in helping along a lot of shoers and veterinarians during his long career — not to mention horses.

The Virginia Horseshoers Association (VHA) will be hosting an “Eddie Watson Appreciation Day” clinic on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Hockaday Hill Farm in Spotsylvania.
Watson, a member of the International Horseshoeing Hall Of Fame and an American Farrier’s Association certified journeyman farrier, is currently being treated for colon cancer. The VHA will be honoring Watson for his “unwavering dedication to the farrier industry” and invites friends, family and peers to come out and spend the day with him.
Clinicians for the event will include Shayne Carter, Roy Bloom, Dave Farley and Dan Burke.
Details of the event are still being finalized. Those planning on attending should contact Butch or Connie Hockaday at (540) 582-5486 or e-mail bulldogtools@wildblue.net
