When Ken Remer had the opportunity to buy a shoeing trailer for two-thirds of what the previous shoer had invested in the rig, he jumped at the opportunity. 

Since the previous owner was moving to a new career and the deal was too good to pass up, Remer made the switch from shoeing out of a pickup truck with a cap and slide-out bed to the trailer.

“This trailer frees up my four-door Chevrolet pickup truck for otheruses,” he says. “I can go home at night, unhook the shoeing trailer and hook up a gooesneck trailer to handle other needs or just use the four-door pickup for family uses. The trailer lets me get more productive use out of my truck.”

More Efficient Shoeing

The Burlington, Wis., farrier finds a trailer leads to much more efficient shoeing. “All I have to do is back up the trailer to a barn aisle, open the door and start working,” he says. “Not only does it save valuable time, but it lets me work inside the trailer out of the weather while staying warm and dry. I got tired of working in the rain and snow that are common in the southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois area where I shoe.”
