Hogs are for bikers and horses are for farriers — right? Not always! One farrier from Union, Ky., uses his 1994 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle to attract attention to his shoeing business.

Brian Hall, a full-time farrier for 9 years, mainly shoes hunter/jumpers and some Western pleasure horses. But he also has 71 different horseshoes, two  hammers, a pair of nail nippers, hoof nippers, a clinch block plus much more painted on his bike.

“I wanted something different and out of the ordinary,” says Hall.

The 3-D shiny, silver horseshoe designs were painted professionally by Hall’s friend, Jim Farr. He used his creativity and artistic skills to decorate the motorcycle. The result is a hot Harley that can catch anyone’s eye.

Boosting Business

The unique designs raise interest among Hall’s clients and also help bring in new shoeing customers. The farrier hands out his business card wherever he goes. Then when he cruises down the street on his Harley, people notice the 3-D horseshoes and make a connection.

“The bike is a good way to advertise,” Hall says.

Some call Hall just to ask him questions about the bike, while others call to ask questions about his shoeing work.
