American Farriers Journal
American Farriers Journal is the “hands-on” magazine for professional farriers, equine veterinarians and horse care product and service buyers.
ONE OF THE best ways for farriers to stay in touch with the latest product innovations, health care advice, shoeing theories and techniques is by attending the American Farrier’s Association annual convention.
The convention, scheduled from March 3 through 6, is always one of the best attended and most anticipated shoeing events during the year, giving farriers a unique assortment of clinics, contests and demonstrations to help improve your shoeing skills and gain plenty of valuable knowledge.
The AFA’s 28th annual event is scheduled to be among the biggest and best yet. But since it’s being held in the middle of “horse country” in Lexington, Ky., who says it has to be all work and no play?
The deadline date for pre-registering for the convention is Feb. 3, 1999. By sending in your pre-registration form, you not only save $75 from the on-site fee ($85 for non-AFA members), but you save yourself the hassle of delays when it comes to check-in.
If you’ve lost or misplaced your pre-registration form, turn to page 102 of this issue for what may be your last chance to save both time and money.
Too often farriers come to this event without specific goals in mind. While “winging it” through the marketplace displays, informational lectures, clinical demonstrations and contests is certainly appropriate, coming to Lexington with a plan already mapped out will help you maximize your time.
