Eponatech.com has recently launched its Metron software suite on CD-ROM for farriers, veterinarians and horse owners.
Horse owners John and Monique Craig, chief technology officer and president of Eponatech.com, respectively, hope their new CD-Rom will improve communication among those in the horse-care field.
The aim, says John, was to make something that, in the long run, would help the horse. “We were always astounded at the high percentage of horses in boarding facilities that have lameness problems. We wanted to try and figure out something to do about it,” he says.
This concern prompted the couple to create Metron software suite. “It’s a tool to document the changes in the hoof or lower leg and allows them to be shared among those taking care of the horse,” says John. Metron, according to John, is a Greek word that means a system to measure. The package is available on two CDRoms, MetronP and MetronPX, which allows users to document a horse’s pictures, radiographs and foot and leg measurements.
The software allows you to store your images, both radiograph and photograph, on CD. According to John, the software guides the user through the detailed frames and afterward displays a detailed, marked-up image.
“The result you have is 22 different parameters. These are measurements of angles, thicknesses and lengths that describe the conformation of the bone and hoof,” he says.
