Farrier Carl Francis Gilbert of Sidney, Ohio, passed away Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at The Pavilion. He was 82.

Gilbert served his country in the U.S. Navy, having served from 1955-57. He truly loved horses and was self-employed as a farrier and harness maker. He had many horses and horse carriages over the years. He was also a member of the Hamer Lodge #0167 in Wapakoneta.

In following with Gilbert's wishes, his body will be donated to the OSU Medical Center. There will be a gathering of family and friends to honor his life at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney. Condolences may be expressed to the Gilbert family at Cromes Funeral Home's website.
